Army Corps denies permit for controversial mine that threatened salmon habitat in Alaska

After a battle that spanned nearly 20 years and cost a Canadian mining company close to a billion dollars, the US Army Corps of Engineers has decided to deny a permit to blast open Pebble Mine near the salmon-rich headwaters of Bristol Bay, Alaska.
