New York to lose House seat — and an Electoral College vote — after falling 89 residents short in Census count

New York state came just 89 residents short of maintaining all of its congressional districts, Census Bureau officials said Monday, and will now lose one of its House seats ahead of the 2022 midterm elections and an Electoral College vote as a result of the agency’s count.
